On Saturday, June 18, there will be a Juneteenth event for the Austin community from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m at Columbus Park, 5900 W. Adams.
The 2nd annual event will include food, music, games, ancestor dedications, live performances, children reading circles, restorative justice peace circles, arts and crafts, prizes, vendors, and more.
Additionally, historians will share history about Juneteenth, such as where and how it all began. Attendees can view artifacts from the mid-late 1800s to early 1900s, and learn research tips on Black ancestry.
