Parents who want to register new and returning students for Cluster Tutoring can do so on four dates in late August and early September.
Parents of returning students in grades 1-12 can do so on a drop-in basis from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, and Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Pine Avenue United Church, 5460 W. Augusta in Chicago (enter through the door on Augusta). Parents should bring their children in grades 1-8 so Cluster can conduct a brief reading assessment. If applicable, parents also should bring Individual Education Plans (IEP), 504 plans, or Title 1 documentation so that those materials can be copied to share with the tutor.
If returning students aren’t registered in August, their spot at Cluster will not be guaranteed for this school year.
Parents can register new students in grades K-8 on at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at Pine Avenue United Church and at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at First United Church of Oak Park, 848 Lake St. (enter through the door in back of the church off the parking lot). Parents need to attend only one session but must attend in person. There will be a 30- to 40-minute orientation program so parents can learn about the program’s background, policies, and procedures and fill out registration forms.
Priority enrollment will be given to new students from the Austin neighborhood. Students from directly surrounding Chicago neighborhoods also are eligible to apply (must be within 3 miles of our Austin location).
