Chicago Public Schools has a series of YouTube videos that help families — parents and students both — how to better use Google to enhance remote learning.
In addition to the virtual training sessions, a complete guide to online reopening from CPS offers information about connecting with schools, learning about remote learning technology, where to pick up free meals each day, and much more.
These YouTube videos cover specific areas and are offered in both English and Spanish. They range in length from approximately 40 minutes to one hour. Videos are:
- Google Basics for CPS Families. Families can learn about the basic Google programs that CPS teachers and students will be using this fall so parents can help students as they learn from home. English link; Spanish link.
- What to Expect from Google Classroom and Google Meet. Parents can learn the top five basics for both Google Classroom and Google Meet. The video explores basic connection, navigation, and interaction; provides support tips; and shares examples. English link; Spanish link.
- Google for iPad. Google works great with iPads, but learning a few simple tips and tricks can make the learning experience much easier while learning from home. English link; Spanish link.
