Families whose students are especially interested in science can sign up for extra remote instruction in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) through Project Exploration.
With a program called [email protected], Project Exploration can provide hands-on learning and STEM professional mentorship, all from the safety of students’ homes, via Zoom. Instruction is free and is offered for students K-12.
Project Exploration has created transformative learning opportunities for youth underrepresented in the sciences — particularly students of color and girls — for more than 20 years. And the whole family can get involved: Eligible families who are subscribed to [email protected] and complete activities as a family can earn points to trade in for prizes and gift cards in the Project Exploration Explore Store.
There are separate programs for students K-8 and high school students in grades 9-12. More information about Project Exploration is available at the group’s website.
All eligible families with students grades K-8 will receive a monthly STEM kit filled with fun supplies and activities along with access to Virtual LIVE programs. More information and directions on how to register are available at this link.
The program for teens partners with After School Matters and Chicago Public Schools. More information and directions on how to register are available at this link.
