Austin residents 16 and older have more neighborhood opportunities to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Appointments are available for those 16 and older to get inoculated with the Pfizer vaccine at Loretto Hospital. Those signing up for the first shot will get an automatic appointment for a second shot three weeks later. There is no date cutoff for those registering to get the vaccine.
Adults 18 and older can get the one-time Johnson & Johnson vaccine on the Vaccine Bus, which will be at the North Austin Library every Friday through May 28.
Appointments are FREE and are available by appointment. Residents should bring proof of address to appointments. The shots are being offered through the Chicago Dept. of Public Health. The community group Austin Coming Together also is serving as a sponsor, helping to spread the word about COVID-19 vaccine opportunities.
Loretto Hospital, 645 S. Central Ave., is offering shots on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from noon to 6 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Appointments are preferred, but some walk-up slots are available. To make an appointment for a shot, register at this website or call 312-746-4835. Vaccine Bus, North Austin Library, 5724 W. North Ave., offers shots by appointment and walk-up slots from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Friday through May 28. You can register with this online form. Identification and insurance are not required, but one of the documents from this list will serve as proof of address, such as a driver’s license, voter registration card, or utility bill.
