Interview by her tutor, Julie:

Jaliyah’s favorite thing to do with family is going places like Chuckie Cheese with her little cousins and visiting people at their house.

Jaliyah is good at reading and baking.  She’s working on being good at math and cheerleading.  She’s also learning new skills in her mentor program at the YMCA.

Jaliyah has a friend at school who is special to her because she notices if she is sad and then helps her.  Her friend is the first person to talk to her at lunch when she’s alone.

Jaliyah feels like her mom is very special to her because she talks to her and pushes her when things are difficult.  Her grandmother is also special for bringing her to tutoring and checking up on her.

Description of Artwork:

Jaliyah’s artwork depicts all the people she loves and the things she cares about as well as the people who appreciate her.  They are around her and in hearts to show love.
