Registration is open for the May 2 walk to fight hunger for both walkers and donors. The Hunger Walkathon West CROP Hunger Walk raises money to fight hunger both globally and locally.
In the past, Hunger Walkathon West gave Cluster Tutoring money each year to help pay for snacks for hungry Cluster students on Tuesday and Thursday nights all year.
In 2020, the CROP Hunger Walk was a virtual event. Walkers chose their own routes and walked alone because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, in 2021, walkers have the opportunity to form small groups and choose their own routes, all while raising money to fight hunger. Small groups will be be led by team captains and will start at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2. Masking and social distancing rules will still be enforced.
Last year, the CROP Hunger Walk raised over $100,000, and they’re shooting for an even bigger total this year. Funds go to international groups fighting hunger and food insecurity and to 10 local organizations that fight hunger, including several food pantries. The global recipients are Church World Service international relief and development programs.
To register for the May 2 walk or to make a donation, visit the Hunger Walkathon West website. We’re grateful that so many tutors and tutoring families stepped up to make donations in past years.
